Post Holiday Depression

Well it’s that times again. Time to take all the Christmas decorations down, send all the relatives back home, and get back into the swing of everyday life. Sounds fun right?

Truth is we all no that it is not fun at all.

My Holiday celebration was extended a little due to the fact that my brother and his girlfriend couldn’t come home (from Arkansas) until January 4th. Because of this, my house is still decorated and we still had company up until yesterday. This means that today the house was way too quiet! You must understand that having two extra people as well as a dog in a three bedroom house (totalling 5 people in all) means that we are living in very close quarters and it’s always relatively loud when my family gets together. Which of course means we had a blast!

Needless to say, the Holidays went by way to fast. But isn’t that what normally happens to us in this society. We get so wrapped up in getting ready for the Holidays and buying the “perfect gifts” that once they are here we barely have enough time to sit down, slow down and enjoy them. And that’s terrible. This is what our world has come to. Rushing around just to complete a task and get done with the day so that we can go to sleep, wake up and do it all over again.

I believe that we all need to slow down in our lives. I am guilty of scheduling every second of my life, as I know most everyone is, yet these tendencies block us from seeing the wonderful things that God is doing everyday in our lives. So my advice and challenge for everyone for this year is to slow down and smell the roses. You never know what God will do in your life if you start to pay attention to the people and world around you. 🙂

As for the “Post Holiday Depression” that happens when everyone is back at their homes and getting back into the swing of everyday life, Christmas is a feeling not a day. It’s a feeling of joy, magic, and giving. This feeling can be carried around with us throughout the whole year until Christmas comes back around.  As long as we show everyone the Light of Christ (which is actually what Christmas is all about)  everyday of the year, then we will carry the “Christmas Spirit” with us as well. That is the beauty of living a Christ driven life, we get to feel the joy and magic of the world allthroughout our lives…not just one day a year! Praise God!

2013 Is Finally Here!

Happy New Year!

This past year has been very busy, filled with drama, stress, and many experiences that were absolutely amazing. But I won’t bore you with a total recap of everything that has happened to me.

I have recently been inspired by a friend of mine who has her own blog to start my very own one. In this blog I wil share my thoughts on current events, movies, books, and college. Amoung other things as well.

I know that the majority of you are friends and family who are just thrilled to read my thoughts on these subjects. But for those of you who I don’t know, I would like to say welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my blog.

Currently I do not know exactly what days I will be blogging, but I can assure you that I will blog at least once a week. Thank you so much for accompanying me on this journey, It should prove to be very interesting.

Now I am off to eat a bunch of finger foods and watch a Bones marathon until the fateful time that the ball will drop on 2013. I hope everyone has a wonderful time celebrating the New Year! Stay Safe!
